BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (11-6/6-5) shot 52-percent from the field and surrendered a season-low 57 points as it cruised to an 83-57 victory over visiting Potsdam (7-11/3-8) in a SUNYAC contest today at the Sports Arena.
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) paced the Bengals' offense with 30 points, hitting 10 of 13 from the floor and 4 of 6 from long range. Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) added 16 points, and Seth Runge (Springville/Springville GI) had 12 points and nine boards. Kojo Mensah (Brooklyn/Aurora (CO)) had four points and a career-best 10 rebounds.
Buffalo State hit six first-half 3-pointers and took a 37-28 advantage into the intermission. The Bengals created even more separation in the second half, using a 21-4 stretch to grow the lead to as many as 33 points before coasting to the win.
Potsdam shot just 31-percent from the field and finished 12 of 21 at the charity stripe. Buffalo State dominated in the paint, outscoring the Bears 44-20 inside, and holding a 51-31 rebounding advantage.
Buffalo State will host Oswego for another home game next Friday at 8 p.m.
