Brooklyn Dropped By Staten Island, 67-52

Brooklyn, NY ---- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team suffered a setback against the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island on Friday night at the West Quad Center, as CSI defeated BC, 67-52, in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match-up.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 5-12 overall and 3-6 in the CUNYAC; while the Dolphins improve to 14-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play.

Brooklyn seized early control of the game, jumping out to an 11-2 lead in the first five minutes of action. CSI would call a timeout to gather themselves and answer with a 9-0 run to get back into the game at tie score at 11 all.

From there on out, the game would feature for more ties as both teams looked to build some momentum heading into the halftime break.

After a layup from senior Jeffrey Noel that knotted the game at 19-19 with 5:48 remaining in the opening half, the Dolphins used an 8-0 run over the next two minutes to go up 27-19. CSI would eventually lead by as many as 13 twice, as the visitors would take a 36-23 advantage heading into the intermission break.

The Bulldogs come out of the gate determined to get back into the game, as BC netted the first six points of the second period to cut its deficit to seven, 36-29, with 18:01 left in the game.

However, that's as close as the Bulldogs would get, as the Dolphins used a 7-0 run to double its lead and go back up by double digits, 43-29, at the 15:22 mark of the final period.

CSI led by as many as 21, 57-36, with 9:04 remaining in the game; as the Dolphins would go on to cruise to its 67-52 victory.

For the game, BC was held to 31.1% (19-61) shooting from the field, including going just 2-for-17 (11.8%) from three. Brooklyn also shot 63.2% (12-19) from the three throw line.

CSI shot 47.3% (26-55) from the field, while shooting 27.3% (3-11) from downtown. The Dolphins also shot 75.0% (12-16) from the line.

Staten Island also won the battle of the glass 46-34, which led to 17 second chance points for the visitors.

Noel and classmate Steven Grant each finished the night with 10 points for the Bulldogs, while senior Kavon Baker and freshman Egzon Gjonbalaj added nine and eight points, respectively. Baker also dished out four assists, while senior Abdul Lanlokun grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

CSI was led by Bloochy Magloire's game-high 25 points, while Dylan Bulger finished the game with a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jon Chadwick-Myers contributed with 12 points and eight assists, while Herschel Jenkins grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

Brooklyn returns to the court on Monday, January 28th, as the Bulldogs will be on the road to take on York College in another key CUNYAC matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm in Jamaica, NY. Live stats for the game will be available via http://www.sidearmstats.com/york/mbball/scoreboard.aspx
