Baruch Gets Solid Effort From Bench to Defeat Rival Hunter (94-60)

The Baruch College Bearcats shot 68 percent (19-28) in the second half to defeat the Hawks of Hunter College, 94-60, in a CUNYAC home contest played on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats led from start to finish and built up a 40-25 halftime advantage behind 13 first half points from
Joshua Vital.

The team came out strong at the start of the second half with a 10-2 run to lead 50-27. The lead would later grow to as much as 37 points (91-54) on a free throw by
Raymond De La Cruzto help keep the Bearcats undefeated at home this season with a 7-0 record.

Vital (8 rebounds) and
Granville Gittens(13 second half points) led the way with 17 points each, while Matt Feldman(6-6 FT) finished with 11 points and three steals.

Brian McMahon(5-7 fg, 8 rebounds) and Ryan Kane(3-4 fg) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points each. Jason Berlinercame off the bench to contribute eight points and six rebounds.

The bench was a factor again scoring 56 of the team's 94 points this evening.

The men's basketball team will continue their home schedule with a battle for second place in the CUNYAC standings on Friday, January 25, with a 7:30 pm contest against John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
