SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Four Eagles finished in double-figures as the Juniata men's basketball team defeated Susquehanna University 86-70 on the road. Junior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) put up a game and career-high 34 points to help lead the Eagles to their fifth straight Landmark Conference victory. Juniata (13-5, 5-2 Landmark) sits in second place in the league halfway through conference play.
Scholly made 11-of-15 from the floor and went a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line to break his previous career mark. He also set a personal best with a game-high three steals. Junior Jeremy Hays (McMechen, W.Va./John Marshall) earned 17 points of his own after making five field goals and shooting 83-percent from the free throw line.
Senior Alex Raymond (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Altoona) became the fourth Eagle this season to pick up a double-double. He had 10 points with a game and career-high 10 assists. Junior Kevin Stapleton (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) also finished with 10 points, respectively. Raymond and Stapleton tied Scholly for the game-high in steals.
The Crusaders opened scoring with a three 10 seconds into the contest. Stapleton tied the score with a three on the ensuing possession before Juniata took the lead less than a minute later and never looked back. They led by as much as 17 points in the second half and never let the Crusaders closer than nine.
Susquehanna (6-12, 2-5 Landmark) was led by Brandon Hedley who finished with 17 points.
Juniata hits the road next for a double-header with the women's team at Scranton. The men will play at 7 p.m. after the women's 5 p.m. game. The Eagles are looking for redemption after Scranton pulled out the 62-54 win in Huntingdon back on January 5. It was Juniata's last loss this season before the most recent win streak.
