BUFFALO, NY - A big opening game spurt by the Mavs stunned visiting Mt. Aloysius and Medaille never let them recover as they cruised to a (79-63) victory over the Mounties.  The win is the sixth straight for Medaille and it avenges an earlier season loss to Mt. Aloysius when they first faced off.

The Mavs jumped out to a (16-1) lead less than four minutes into the game as they feverishly defended and attacked the glass to send an early message to the visitors.  The Mavs would maintain the momentum as they carried that same fifteen point lead into the intermission at (46-31).  The second half would be a tighter affair but the Mavs were always able to answer any runs put forth by the Mounties.  Medaille led by as many as (21) points in the win.

Continuing his strong play was sophomore Jammal Coleman who led all scorers with (21) points on (8 of 14) shooting to go along with (5) rebounds, (4) assists, and (3) steals.  Fellow sophomore Alex Baron was (6 for 10) from the field for a (20) point day, he also chipped in with (5) boards.  Senior Josh Laureano flirted with a triple/double as he had game highs in assists (10) and rebounds (10), while chipping in with (7) points as well.  Five of his rebounds came off the offensive glass and he helped the Mavs cause on the defensive end with a game high (2) blocked shots.

Coming off the bench to aid in the win was sophomore Cooper Calzonetti who pulled down (7) rebounds, four offensive and tallied (6) points.  Senior Anthony Battaglia also attacked the glass, finishing with (6) rebounds while also coming up with a game high (5) steals.  In all, the Mavs forced Mt. Aloysius into (24) turnovers, which they turned into (26) points.  The Mavs also registered (25) second chance points while holding the Mounties to just (9).

The win pushes Medaille to (11-6) overall and they move into the top spot in the AMCC standings at (8-2).  Next up for Medaille is a rematch with crosstown rival Hilbert College on the road on Wednesday (1/23) at 8:00pm in Hamburg, NY.
