TACOMA, Wash. – Danny Brakebush (Fr., Portland Ore.) went off from three-point range to lead Pacific out of their three-game losing streak Friday night, scoring a season-high 26 points in an 81-73 win over Pacific Lutheran in Northwest Conference men's basketball action at Olson Auditorium.

Brakebush scored his 26 by connecting on 9 of 15 from the field and canned five of the Boxers' seven three-pointers on the night.  He also netted 3 of 4 from the free throw line to go along with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The freshman led four Pacific players who finished the night in double figures.  Colin Wester (Sr., Sherwood, Ore.) finished with 17 points on 6 of 9 from the field in his first start since Dec. 17, with 15 of those points coming in the second half.  Mitch Wettig (So., Bend, Ore.) added 11 points while Charles Mosley (Sr., Hillsboro, Ore.) scored 10 points to go along with a team-high five rebounds.

Pacific (7-5, 1-2 NWC) finished the night shooting 47.4 percent from the field (27-57) and 20 of 27 from the free throw line.  While being outrebounded for just the third time this season (37-31), Pacific finished the night with a team-low eight turnovers.

Cameron Schilling led Pacific Lutheran (4-10, 2-3 NWC) with 17 points and seven rebounds while Bryce Miller scored 15 to go along with seven rebounds.  Cameron Reister added 15 points, all on three-pointers, while Daniel Landram finished with 10.  The Lutes finished shooting 49.1 percent from the field (27-55) and made 60 percent of their three-pointers (9-15).

The Boxers never trailed in the opening 20 minutes and appeared early on to be intent on running the Lutes out of their own gym.  Pacific assumed a 15-6 lead on Daniel Zitani's (Jr., Oakland, Calif.) jumper at the 12:23 mark while Andrew Beatty (Sr., Lakewood, Wash.) extended it to 12 points on his three-pointer on the Boxers' next possession.

Pacific still held a 30-19 lead on Dustin Bowser's (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.) dunk with 4:05 left before Earnest and Johnny Tveter keyed a 7-0 Lutes' run that closed the half.  Earnest opened the run with his three-pointer while Tveter closed it with a lay-in with 55 seconds left to bring PLU within 30-26 at halftime.

The Lutes would tie the game three times over the first 10 minutes of the season half, but was never be able to take the lead.  Miller brought the score even for the first time four minutes into the stanza when his lay-in made it 39-39.  Schilling provided for the last deadlock when his lay-in made it a 51-51 game with 10:47 left.

Mosley hit a lay-in on Pacific's next possession to open up a 7-0 run over the next five minutes that all but closed out the game in the Boxers' favor.  A pair of Wettig free throws closed the run at the 6:47 mark to make it a 58-51 game.  PLU cut the advantage to six before Brakebush and Wester connected on back-to-back possessions, which was followed by Brakebush's fifth trey of the night that gave the Boxers their biggest lead of the game, 69-56.

Pacific Lutheran made it close late, coming within 75-70 on Reister's three-pointer with 1:10 left, but the Lutes connected on just 1 of 3 field goals in the final minute while the Boxers converted on 6 of 8 from the free throw line.

Pacific returns home to the Stoller Center on Saturday as they host Linfield.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.  A live audio and video webcast of the game can be accessed at goboxers.com.
