BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College men's basketball team used a (53) point second half to turn a five point game at halftime into a (26) point victory over AMCC foe Franciscan University this afternoon in the Sullivan Center.  It was the Mavs fourth straight win.

After a tough opening half that saw the Mavs struggle to knock down easy shots, they made the necessary adjustments in the locker room and came into the second half shooting at a torrid pace.  The Mavs held a (29-24) advantage at the half but outscored the Barons (53-32) in the final twenty minutes of play en route to the win.  The Mavs went (20-33) from the floor in the second half which included a (6 for 12) effort from beyond the arc.

Sophomore Jammal Coleman had a great offensive day as he was (8 for 11) from the floor, (3 for 3) from three-point range, and (3 for 4) from the charity stripe, leading all scorers with (22) points.  He also dished out (3) assists and grabbed (4) rebounds on the day.  Senior Josh Laureano posted a game high (6) assists while coming up with (4) steals on the defensive end of the floor.

Fellow senior Anthony Battaglia knocked down half of his shots in an (11) point effort while junior Robby Seyler came off the bench to spark the Mavs with (12) points on (4 of 9) shooting and a team high (6) rebounds.

The Mavs put the game away with stifling defense to open the second half as they forced the Barons into turnover after turnover and then converted on the other end of the floor.  In all, the Mavs forced Franciscan into (21) turnovers and scored (25) points off those miscues, (12) of which came on fast break buckets.  The Mavs also registered (16) second chance points to just (8) for the Barons.  The Medaille bench outscored their counterparts (39-10) to aid in the victory as well.

The mavs finished the day shooting (52.5%) overall from the floor, (42.1%) from long distance and (85.7%) from the free throw line.  Franciscan managed to get to the line just three times and connected on just one of those attempts.  Meanwhile, the Mavs were (12 for 14) from the line on the day.

The win pushes the Mavs record to (9-6) overall and they improve to (6-2) in AMCC play.  They will host Pitt-Bradford on Monday (1/14) in an 8:00pm conference tilt.
