STEUBENVILLE, OH – La Roche men's basketball (7-7, 5-2) used an 8-0 second half run to beat Franciscan (0-14, 0-7) 59-48 and improve to 9-0 in the all-time series.
La Roche's run came at the 2:57 mark of the second half and broke open a close game. Andre Flanigan sparked the run when he converted a layup and free throw and Lionel Perkins followed with a big 3-pointer. Joel McIntosh hit 2 foul shots and a layup down the stretch for the Redhawks.
David Jackson, the AMCC's leading rebounder, recorded his fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jackson went 8 for 15 from the field and scored 12 second half points. McIntosh scored 10 points to register his fourth consecutive double-digit game and his eleventh this season. Flaningan finished with 9 points and Perkins added 8 points in the win.
La Roche controlled the glass and outrebounded Franciscan 37-30 including 15-6 on the offensive end. They held the Barons scoreless on second chance points and allowed just 49 field goal attempts.
La Roche men's basketball will travel to Penn State Behrend on Saturday at 4:00PM for a rematch of the 2011 AMCC Championship game. The Lions lead the AMCC Conference and rank 10th nationally in scoring defense.
