Strong Second Half Lifts Staten Island Past Bearcats (74-64)

The men's basketball team suffered a 74-64 defeat to the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island in a CUNYAC road contest played on Saturday afternoon in Staten Island, New York.

The Bearcats (7-5, 3-2 CUNYAC) played a strong first half shooting 52 percent (14-27 fg) to jump out to a 37-35 halftime advantage.

They led by one point (56-55) with 8:59 remaining
on a layup by Brian McMahon, but the Dolphins scored on their next possession and never gave up that lead the rest of the game.

The Dolphins finished shooting 60 percent (15-25 fg) in the second half and scored the final six points.

McMahon finished with a career-high 15 points shooting a near perfect 7-of-8 from the field.
Fuat Yaparalso scored 15 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

Raymond De La Cruzhad his fourth straight performance in double-figure scoring with 13 points and a career-high five steals. Edward Roscignonotched four steals and three assists. Joshua Vitalfinished with nine points.

Jon Chadwick-Myers led the Dolphins with 20 points (9-12 fg).

The men's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, January 8th, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest in the ARC Arena against Brooklyn College.
