Medaille Men Get Back on Track with Convincing Win Over Penn State-Altoona

ALTOONA, PA - The Medaille men's basketball team snapped its four game skid with a convincing (75-56) AMCC road win against Penn State-Altoona this afternoon.  The Mavs used another hot shooting performance from all over the floor to lead them to a much needed victory.

The Mavs were deadly from beyond the arc in the win as they knocked down (10 of 16) long range shots for an impressive (62.5%) performance.  They were able to knock down (52.8%) of their shots overall, finishing the day (28 of 53).  Leading the way for Medaille was sophomore Alex Baron who was (7 for 8) from the floor, poring in a team high (16) points to go along with (4) boards.

Chipping in on a strong shooting night was senior Tyler Stevens who was proficient from the floor, knocking down (5 of 7) shots, which included connecting on (4 of 5) from long range for a (14) point outing.  He also chipped in with (3) assists to aid in the victory.  Junior Robby Seyler came off the bench to tally (10) points on (4 of 7) shooting, while Putter Brown connected on all three shots that he attempted for (7) points.  Senior point guard Josh Laureano guided the Maverick offense with a game high (6) assists while chipping in with (5) points.

The Mavs bench was dominant in the win as they outscored the Lion backups (30-10).  The Mavs largest lead of the game came with (11:29) remaining in the second half as Medaille was up by (22) points.  They would hold Altoona at arms length the rest of the way.  The Mavs turned their defensive pressure into (15) points while earning an (8-0) edge in fast break points.

The win evens the Mavs record to (6-6) overall and they improve to (3-2) in AMCC play.  They will have little rest as they head down the road to Greensburg, PA to take on Pitt-Greensburg tomorrow afternoon (1/6) at 3:00pm in another conference showdown.
