A daunting task in front of them, both the PC men's and women's hoop teams came away with wins Friday, 1/4/13 at the Strode Center. The Saints began their 4 games in 4 days stretch with wins over Crossroads College.
Alaina Benson and her women's squad led the night off and led it off with a bang! The Saints jumped out to an 11-1 lead, and never looked back. It was a record setting night on 2 fronts. The Saints cruised to a 124-31 win, the most ever points scored in a single game. Junior Hannah Phillips also found her way into the record books, scoring a new school record 47 points. Phillips was just one of 5 Saints who wound up in double figures. Senior Kelli Boekelheide added 22 points and 19 rebounds. Sophomore Rachel Fuhrmann chipped in with 26 and 8. Junior Kaylee Voorhees added 10 points and 9 rebounds, while Freshman Lynn Weikel scored 12 and grabbed 6 boards. The women will face Crossroads again Saturday, 1/5/13 at 1:00pm.
Jeremy Reigle and his men's team capped off the night with a 75-66 win over the Knights. Junior Quincy Davis scored a season high 21 points on 7-15 shooting. He sank 3 from behind the stripe. The Saints defense was the story in the first half, holding Crossroads to 37% from the floor. They will tip off Saturday at 3:00pm.
