FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- The Babson College men's basketball team used 12 three-pointers to defeat the Framingham State University Rams, 58-46, this evening. Matt Palazini (Franklin, Mass.) had a game-high 20 points, all but two of which came courtesy of his 6-of-8 showing from long range.

Now winners in six of their last seven games, the Beavers shot 50% from three on the night (12-of-24), as they were able to pull away from the Rams in the second-half.

Framingham trailed by only two at the break, despite only having three players score. Senior Tyrone Figueroa (Revere, Mass.) had 10 at the half for the Rams and would finish with a team-high 17 points.

The Rams suffered a critical loss midway through the second-half when starting center Yemi Ajao (Randolph, Mass.) fouled out of the game. The Beavers were able to spread the floor with Palazini and John Wickey (Manchester. N.H.) hitting several deep jumpers to extend the Beaver lead.

Babson improved to 8-4 with the win, while the Rams dropped to 7-5 on the season and have lost three-of-four after starting the season 6-2. Wickey joined Palazini in double-figures with 13 points to go with six rebounds and three steals, while senior Russell Braithwaite (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added five points and a team-high eight boards. Junior Kenny Ross (Furlong, Pa.) continued his excellent play at the point guard position, tallying seven points, four rebounds, and five assists.

Babson Head Coach Stephen Brennan, now in his 18th season at the helm of the Beavers, was proud of how his team fought. "I told them before the game that this was going to be the most physical game so far of the season.  Every win in Division III is tough, but I thought we fought hard and created more possessions in the second half and we were able to hit shots with them."

The Beavers will open conference play on Saturday, when they travel to WPI for a 3 p.m contest - the Green and White's first of four NEWMAC showdowns in eight days. Framingham will also be on the road Saturday for their first conference game of the season when they take on Worcester State at 5 p.m.
