The Hendrix men's basketball team wrapped up its play at the D3hoops.com Classic with a 65-47 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran at South Point Arena on Saturday night. The Warriors (5-7) from Arkansas shot 47 percent (23-of-53) and outrebounded the Warriors (4-8) from the Badger State by 10. WLC struggled, shooting just 33 percent (18-of-54).
WLC opened the game with the first basket, but that would be the only point in the game where Hendrix trailed. The Orange and Black went on to lead 31-19 at halftime, then built their lead to as many as 23 in the second half.
Hendrix also shot 50 percent (8-of-16) from three-point range and went 7-of-13 at the free throw line. WLC went 3-of-11 from outside and 8-of-16 from the stripe. Hendrix had a 41-31 rebound advantage.
Senior guard Jaren Riley led Hendrix with 17 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Junior forward Colton Primm had 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks and sophomore forward Luke Vance added seven points and eight boards. Freshman guard Alec Conard chipped in seven points off the bench and sophomore guard Nathan McCubbin added five points, five assists and three steals.
Tim Demuth was the only player in double digits for WLC with 10 points. Brett Lubbe had seven points and five rebounds.
Hendrix will return to Southern Athletic Association play on Friday when they take on Oglethorpe in Atlanta.
