Falcons Remain Unbeaten with 78-61 win at Norwich

Senior Jefferson Lora (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team to a 78-61 victory on the road at Norwich on Saturday afternoon.

Lora's season-high 17-point effort lifted the Falcons to their seventh-straight win as they improved to 7-0 on the year and 3-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

Lora added eight rebounds and two blocked shots along with a 43.8%-shooting percentage from the floor. Junior Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) added 12 points in 37 minutes as he struggled from the field, shooting 3-of-14 on the afternoon.

The Cadets ran with the Falcons for the first six minutes of the game, holding the lead once and forcing two ties in the early minutes of the frame. With 13:18 remaining in the half, the Falcons went on an 8-0 run in a span of four minutes to make the score 15-7 and never looked back. Albertus went into the halftime break with a 15-point lead at 41-26.

Norwich opened the second half with five-straight points to cut the Falcons' lead to 10 but Albertus answered with back-to-back three pointers by James Jennings (Stratford, Conn.) to extend the Falcons' lead once again.

The Falcons pushed out to a 24 point lead with 9:38 left on the clock.

Jennings finished the game with 12 points as he shot 4-of-6 from behind the arc. Julian Sanders (Trumbull, Conn.) added 11 points and five rebounds off the bench, while James Economopoulos (Wallingford, Conn.) chipped in with 10 points as well.

The Falcons shot 39.4% from the floor in the contest as the Cadets shot 33.3% and were led by Josh Cabrera with 14 points.
