FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College men's basketball team (3-1) defeated Eastern University (1-3) 70-49 at BB&T Arena Saturday night. The win pushed Hood to 2-0 at home this season and the Blazers gave the home crowd a great performance. It was a game of runs and the blue and grey ended up with too many runs for the Eagles to contend with.

Hood was paced by senior forward Justin Stone, who had a very efficient game scoring 15 points on 7-8 shooting. Stone also moved into tenth place on the all-time career scoring list, with a total of 642 points. Junior guard Justin Bowens had a career night as he scored a career high 13 points. The Blazer point guard was 4-5 from the floor, while corralling four rebounds, dishing out four assists, and most importantly only committing two turnovers. Hood leading scorer junior guard Cameron Cook chipped in with eleven points, as he made three trifecta's on the night. Cook moved into seventh place on the all-time career scoring list with 838 career points. Eastern was led by reserve Malcom Garrison, who scored eight points.

Hood started the game very strong, as they used a 13-0 run to open the first 11 minutes of the contest. The Blazer defense was very lively all night, which has been a trademark of head coach Tom Dickman over the years. The Blazers forced 18 Eagles turnovers and that was just in the first half. Many of these were in the beginning 13-0 run to start the game with Hood playing with tenacity on the defensive end. Eastern got back into the game as they went on a spurt of their own lasting just over two minutes, with the Eagles scoring eleven straight. The Blazers answered netting nine of the next 11 points and took a six point lead into the half.

The blue and grey began the second half with another run, scoring ten straight points to begin the stanza. The run began with a Reggie Daniels dunk that got the crowd off their feet. The Blazers continued the run with a 3 pointer by Stone and a three point play by Trey Quinn that gave Hood a 17 point lead. The Blazers rode the momentum to victory and are looking like a strong side early in the season.

Hood will look to continue its winning ways when it takes on Stevenson in the team's first conference matchup of the season. The game is this Wednesday, November 28 and is set to begin at 8 p.m.
