FARMINGTON, Maine – Three University of Maine at Farmington players scored in double figures to lead the Beavers to a 62-61 win over Colby College, in men's basketball action Tuesday night at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The UMaine-Farmington (3-0) win was the Beavers' first over Colby (1-2) since the 2006-07 season, and broke UMF's seven-game losing streak to the Mules.

Junior Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) paced UMaine-Farmington with 19 points, while junior Nate Carson (Orrington, Maine/Brewer) had 16 points. Each had seven rebounds. Junior center Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook) chipped in with 15 points.

Colby's Luke Westman (Newton, Mass.) led all scorers with 20 points, while Danny Chase (Weston, Conn.) tacked on 10 points for the Mules.

UMF jumped out to an early 14-2 lead by the 13:30 mark of the opening half, but Colby successfully whittled that down to a nine-point margin by the half. The Beavers held a 34-25 lead at the intermission, with both teams shooting just 39 percent from the field.

Colby stepped up its shooting in the second half, firing at a 52 percent clip to tie the game three times and briefly take the lead with just under six minutes to play following a traditional three-point play by Chris Hudnut (Chevy Chase, Md.).

UMF tied the game up on a 3-point bucket by Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little), 57-57. A jumper and 3-pointer by Carson gave the Beavers a five-point lead, and UMF held Colby at bay the rest of the way. The Mules went 1-of-4 from the field down the stretch, aiding the Beavers' cause.

UMaine-Farmington returns to action on Friday, Nov. 30, when it travels to Castleton, Vt., to face Castleton State in a North Atlantic Conference matchup. Colby also returns to action on November 30, when it hosts Fisher College in the opening round of the Colby Classic in Waterville.
