Strong Start Lifts MSOE Past Caltech

MILWAUKEE, WI – In the season opener for both teams, the Milwaukee School of Engineering started strong and never looked back in posting an 81-50 win over Caltech on Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders scored the game's first 18 points and held Caltech without a field goal for nearly the first 10 minutes of the contest. MSOE outdistanced Caltech 44-23 in the first half on 55 percent shooting compared to the Beavers 28 percent shooting.

Caltech got as close as 12 points on two occasions in the first half but couldn't pull their deficit within single digits as they went into the locker room down by 21 points.

The Raiders kept their advantage at 20 or more points for most of the second half in grabbing the victory.

MSOE nailed 56 percent of their shots, while Caltech connected on 30.6 percent of their attempts.  The Raiders scored nearly half their points down low as they held a 38-14 edge in points in the paint.

Pang Wang came off the bench to score a team high 14 points for the Beavers. Bryan Joel also came off the bench to score in double figures with an 11-point effort. Andrew Hogue's 10-point performance rounded out the top scorers for the visitors

Austin Stueck's 15-point day led all scorers.
