ROCHESTER, NY (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Rookie shooting guard KHALID MUHAMMAD(Orange, NJ/Orange) scored a career-best 19 points and finished with a combined 37 points in two tournament games but New Jersey City University was unable to overcome a 20-point second half deficit, eventually falling to hosts Nazareth College, 64-58, in the championship game of the Nazareth College Tournament on November 17 at Kidera Gymnasium.
 
Muhammad and senior center DAVID JONES (Millville, NJ/Cumberland Regional) were selected to the All-Tournament Team representing the Gothic Knights who fell to 1-1 with the setback. Nazareth improved to 2-0 and evened the all-time series at 1-1 as the schools were meeting for the second consecutive year.
 
Nazareth shot a blazing 75 percent in the first half on 15-of-20 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three-point distance and 7-of-9 from the line (.778) to surge out to a 42-24 halftime advantage. The Golden Flyers fell back to earth in the second half, shooting just 16.7 percent (3-18) to finish at 47.4 percent for the game (18-38), but the comeback deficit proved to be too large to overcome for the Knights. Naz made 6-of-13 (.462) from three-point distance in the contest.
