Ross' Perfect Shooting Lifts Oswego State to Max Ziel Tournament Title

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Junior transfer Daniel Ross (Syracuse, N.Y.) buried all seven shots he attempted on Saturday night, compiling 17 points, and leading the Oswego State men's basketball (2-0) to its second straight Max Ziel Tournament Title in an 83-59 win over Morrisville.

Ross was named to the All-Tournament Team, as he also tallied six rebounds and four assists. Senior captain Hayden Ward (Montauk, N.Y.) also scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. His totals of 33 points and 16 rebounds in two victories earned him tournament MVP honors.

Coming off an explosive offensive showing on Friday, the Lakers and Mustangs traded baskets early on. With the game tied at nine, Oswego State went on a 37-12 run to end the half which included seven different scorers. The Lakers went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc and 18-for-25 from the floor in the stanza.

Oswego State maintained its lead in the second period with a balanced attack. Eleven different players scored for the Lakers, with three reaching double-digits. They also forced 13 turnovers, holding the Mustangs to 59 points.

Kucjok Ater registered 12 points to lead the Mustangs, and he was the only Morrisville player in double-digits.

The Lakers have a week off before they hit the court again, as they face Cobleskill on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.
