Dallas, Pa. – Marymount University's men's basketball team won its second-straight season opener with an 80-69 victory over Marywood at the Misericordia Tournament on Friday night.  The Saints move on to face the host Cougars on Saturday in the championship game.

Five Saints (1-0) scored in double-figures, led by Antonio Rouse with a team-high 20 points.  Marcus Carmon added 14 in his debut with the Blue and White while Reed Scott had 12 points to go with 12 rebounds for a double-double.  Jesse Konadu chipped in 11 points while Brenden Cuyler added 10 to go with a game-high five assists.

Carmon nearly posted a double-double as well, missing the mark with nine rebounds.  Rouse added six boards while Cuyler and JC Hoellich both had four.

A close first half saw Marymount outscore the Pacers 24-12 in the paint but Marywood kept itself in the game by outscoring the Saints 16-0 off of turnovers.  Marymount led by as many as 10 in the frame but had to settle for a 30-30 tie going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, things started even before the Saints started a 10-0 run four minute into the half to retake a double-digit lead.  Marywood (0-1) would pull within single-digits just twice the rest of the way, both only to nine points, before MU closed the game out at the free throw line down the stretch.

On the night, the Saints shot 50.8 percent from the floor, including a sharp 56.3% in the second half.  Marymount dominated the post, outscoring Marywood 48-28 in the paint and outrebounding the Pacers 46-26.

Ryan Corrigan led the Pacers with a game-high 22 points.  Shane Kellaher added 17 in the loss.
