MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/18/12)--Concordia scored 51 points in the first half en route to an 81-59 victory over Macalester on Wednesday. The Cobbers shot 70.0% in the first 20 minutes and went on to end a three-game losing streak.

The 51 points scored in the first half is a season high by the Cobbers and the most points scored in a single half since the end of last season when they scored 52 in the regular-season finale against Hamline.

Besides ending the three-game slump, the win pulls the Cobbers within striking distance of the top six teams in the MIAC. Concordia is now 6-10 overall but 4-7 in league play and just 1.5 games behind sixth-place St. John's – who the Cobbers host on Saturday.

Concordia had five players score in double figures and were led by Brandon Fisher who finished with 21 points and was 9-for-14 from the floor. Dewon McKenzie added 19 points and four assists. Jason Huus missed a double-double by a single rebound. He finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Brady Baildon pumped in a career-high 12 points while Ebo Nana-Kweson came away with 11 points.

The Cobbers put the game away in the first half when they turned a seven-point lead at 17-10 into a 14-point advantage in the span of 4:27. Concordia also scored 18 of the final 27 points in the opening period to take a 51-31 lead into the break.

Neither team was able to knock down shots from the outside. CC made just five of their 19 (26.3%) attempts from outside the arc while Macalester shots only 10.0% (1-for-10) from 3-point range. Concordia made nine more field goals and grabbed eight more rebounds in the game. Both teams made 12 free throws.

Macalester (1-14/1-9 MIAC) had a pair of players in double figures in scoring. Lamont Diggs had team highs in points (12) and rebounds (6) and Sam Marshall added 10 points and five assists.    

Concordia will look to climb a little closer to the playoff race when they host the Johnnies on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 3 p.m.
