Davis, a senior center, hit a layup with 14:18 left in the first half for a 16-8 Whitewater lead. Over the next seven minutes Northwestern outscored UW-W 21-12 to take their first lead of the game, 29-28 at 7:34. The momentum shifted the other way with Whitewater scoring the next 11 points, capped off by an Alex Edmunds (Cedarburg)' dunk to make the score 39-29 with 4:56 in the half. The Warhawks' largest lead of the half came at 2:09 and UW-W in front 46-31. The teams went into the lockerroom with Whitewater in front 46-33.
Davis had 21 points in the first half, hitting 9-10 shots from the field. Sophomore guard Eric Bryson (Elkhorn) added 10. Junior guard Wade Chitwood led the Eagles with 12. Whitewater shot 74% in the first half, including 6-10 from beyond the arc.
Whitewater maintained a double figure lead the entire second half. UW-W's lead reached 20 with 9:45 left in the game, 67-47.
UW-W didn't cool off much in the second half, ending the game with a 69% mark for shots from the field. The Warhawks also put up a 31-17 rebound margin. Davis ended with 35 points on 15-18 shooting, including 4-6 on three point shots. Bryson added 16 points, with sophomore guard Cody Odegaard (Poynette) and senior forward Alex Edmunds (Cedarburg) contributing ten each. Merg was the game leader with seven rebounds and five assists. Northwestern was led by junior forward Tom Gisler's 22. Chitwood scored 15 and junior guard Lance Westberg had 12.
