Lambert wins 600th game

The Maryville men's basketball team earned coach Randy Lambert his 600th career collegiate coaching victory with a 63-50 win at LaGrange on Saturday evening.

Maryville (16-9, 6-2 GSAC) used a strong second half by Milton Stanley to maintain an early seven point halftime lead. After an eight point first half, Stanley exploded for a 13 point second half finishing with a game-high 21 point performance. The senior guard went 10-for-13 from the field and added five rebounds for a complete effort.

MC senior Donald Rucker finished with a double-double, going 4-for-9 from the field and ending with 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Oscar Butler's eight rebounds helped MC out rebound the Panthers 47-34.  Wes Lambert added 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

LaGrange falls to 11-14 on the season and 6-2 within the Great South, claiming their first regular season basketball title in the school's history.

The Scots will enter next week's GSAC Tournament in LaGrange as the No. 2 seed. The Scots will look to claim their ninth Great South Tournament title to close out their association with the league before moving to the USA South in 2012-2013.
