LA PLUME, Pa. – The 2011-12 Cabrini College men's basketball moved into the Cabrini basketball annals with tonight's 96-85 win at Keystone College. The #6 Cavaliers finished the regular season at 24-1, the best regular season record in school history.
The victory ended the Blue and White's CSAC schedule with a perfect 18-0 record, joining the 1993-94 and 1995-96 clubs as the only three in school history boast an undefeated record in regular season conference play.
Senior Cory Lemons (Wilmington, Del./ Glasgow) led a Cabrini offense that shot 42.5% from the floor. The senior recorded his fifth double-double with 32 points and 12 rebounds. Lemons shot 10-20 from the floor and 11-12 from the free throw line while playing all 40 minutes.
The Cavaliers also got tremendous input from their bench tonight, outscoring Keystone's reserves 43-26. Freshman Aaron Walton-Moss (Camden, N.J./ Camden) tallied 22 points on 8-12 shooting. Junior Jeremy Knowles (Antioch, Cal./ Pittsburg) added 18 points in the win. Both also recorded three steals.
The Cavaliers also connected on a season high 85.7% (20-24) from the free throw line.
Senior Kenneth Hardnett led five Giants (20-5, 14-4 CSAC) in double figure scoring with 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Cabrini, having already clinched the #1 seed in the upcoming CSAC tournament, will wait until the conclusion of Saturday's quarterfinal round to learn their semifinal opponent.
The Cavaliers will open their CSAC title defense with a home semifinal round game on Tuesday, February 21. The game's start time has yet to be announced.
