Providence, R.I.– The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team dropped an 87-73 decision against 20th ranked Albertus Magnus at the Harborside Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.

Senior Lamonte Thomas (Providence, R.I.) led the way for Johnson & Wales with 38 points and six rebounds while fellow senior Mike Harris (Providence, R.I.) had 19 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats.  Senior Matt Williams (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) was also in double figures with 12 points and five boards in the setback. 

Senior Ray Askew (Hamden, Conn.) had a double-double with 35 points and 20 rebounds for the Falcons.  Junior Arshad Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) tallied 19 points, four assists and four boards in the victory.

Johnson & Wales held a 21-16 lead after a jumper by Thomas with 8:19 left in the first half.  That would be the largest first half lead for the Wildcats as they took the 35-32 lead into the locker room at halftime. 

The score was tied 36-36 in the opening stages of the second half before Albertus Magnus used a 15-3 run, capped by a three pointer by Jackson to give the Falcons the 51-40 lead with 14:39 remaining in the game.  The visiting Falcons' largest lead of the game came after a pair of free throws by Askew made the score 71-54 with 8:46 left.  Albertus Magnus would then hold on for the 87-73 victory.

With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 12-12 overall and 11-6 in league play while Albertus Magnus improves to 23-1, 17-0 in the GNAC.  The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, February 18th when they host first-place Albertus Magnus in a GNAC contest at 7:30 p.m.
