BUFFALO, NY— Geneseo (11-10/9-5) scored 51 second-half points and survived a frantic Buffalo State (17-4/10-4) comeback bid to take an 84-82 road victory in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Ryan Riefenhauser (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) led Geneseo with 24 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.  Mike Hoy (Batavia/Batavia) added 18 points and five assists.  Gordon Lyons (Amherst/Canisius) chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds, and Connor Fedge (Bellport/Bellport) had 10 points and eight boards.

Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead Buffalo State.  Ahmed Nagaya (Bronx/Astor Collegiate) and Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) scored 14 points each, and Nico McLean (Amherst/Amherst) netted 11.

Buffalo State led by as many as 11 in the first half before taking a 42-33 lead at halftime.  Geneseo sliced through the Bengals' defense in the second half, taking a lead it would not relinquish at 57-56 with just over 10 minutes remaining.  The Knights pushed the advantage to 10 points with just over five minutes to play and were up 79-71 with just under two minutes remaining. 

Buffalo State used a frantic rally, scoring nine points in 53 seconds to cut the deficit to 81-80, but missed the second half of a one-and-one with 1:01 left on the clock.  Geneseo converted on a pair of free throws on its next trip and Buffalo State missed a tough layup its next time down, allowing Geneseo to put the game away.

Geneseo's ball-moving offense forced the Bengals to commit 28 fouls, which the Knights converted into 24 points (24 of 37) at the free-throw line.  The Bengals shot just 9 of 16 at the charity stripe.

Buffalo State will host Brockport in another SUNYAC game tomorrow at 4 p.m.
