DOVER, Del. - Chris Douglas led a hot-shooting Wesley College men's basketball team to a pivotal 82-75 victory over Capital Athletic Conference rival Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon at Wentworth Gymnasium.  The Wolverines are now 9-12 overall and 7-5 in the CAC while the Bobcats fall to 11-11 on the season and 8-5 in league play.

A native of Landover, Md., Douglas scored a career-high 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead all scorers.  The senior guard also made 3-of-5 from beyond-the-arc and 7-of-10 from the line.

Douglas received plenty of help as Paul Reynolds recorded a double-double with 13 points (5-of-7) and a season-high 15 rebounds.  Also scoring in double figures was JJ Bryant with 14 points (5-of-6).  Guards Rasheed Carter (seven points) and Eric Selby (eight points) also combined for 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting off the bench.

As a team, Wesley shot 54.9% compared to just 35.7% for Frostburg, but poor free throw shooting (20-37) and 22 turnovers allowed the Bobcats to get back in the game.  Despite being outscored, 52-40 in the second half, the Wolverines shot 61.9% in the period after making 50% of their shots in the opening session.

Douglas scored eight of the team's first ten points as Wesley took an early lead and a layup by Reynolds with 9:45 left in the first half gave the Wolverines a 23-12 advantage.  The Navy & White continued to roll through the Bobcats defense and extended its lead to as many as 39-19 with 4:02 left after a free throw by Sean Hopkins.

Frostburg scored the next four points but Wesley regained the momentum going into the half as Douglas' half-court shot as time expired gave the Wolverines a 42-23 lead.

The Bobcats would cut the lead to as little as four at 76-72 with 1:14 remaining after back-to-back threes by Troy Dockett.  After Douglas and Reynolds converted on 1-of-2 charity stripe attempts Dockett was fouled on a three-point shot but bricked the first two shots to keep the deficit at 80-75 with 30 seconds left.

Selby was immediately fouled on the inbounds pass and sank both of his free throws to seal the victory for the Wolverines.

Wesley returns to action on Wednesday, February 8, when they travel to Marymount (Va.) for an 8pm conference tilt.
