Sophomore forward Zach Riedeman scored 20 points off the bench to lead the first-place Tommie men's basketball team to a 78-65 win over Macalester Monday night on the Scots' court in St. Paul.
UST kept pace atop the standings with 11-3 Gustavus, a 10-point road winner at Augsburg.
St. Thomas (14-5 overall, 11-3 MIAC) sank 16-of-18 foul shots, shot 52% from the floor, and had only eight turnovers. Will deBerg added 13 points and five assits and Noah Kaiser had 12 points.
The Toms led just 39-36 at halftime but later used a 17-4 run in the final 9:00 to build a 17-point lead.
Sam Marshall scored 17 points and Pierce Peters had 16 for the Scots, who knoked down 22-of-24 free-throw tries.
St. Thomas is home Wednesday to play St. John's at 7:30 p.m.
