Buffalo State Runs Past New Paltz, 95-67

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (14-3/7-3) netted 32 points on the fast break as it sprinted past visiting New Paltz (6-10/3-7), 95-67, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena. 

Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) and Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) led five Bengals scoring in double-figures with 15 points each.   Ahmed Nagaya (Bronx/Astor Collegiate) and Anyar Majak (Rochester/Jefferson) added 12 points each, and Norman Simmons (Rochester/East) had 10 points and eight assists.

Matt Devine (Manalapan, NJ/Freehold Twp.) netted a game-high 24 points to go with nine rebounds to pace New Paltz.  Harris Wichard (Merrick/Bellmore JFK) had 20 points, seven boards and four assists.

The Bengals raced out to a 45-34 lead through the first 20 minutes, continued to push the pace and pull away in the second half.  The Bengals outscored New Paltz 64-18 in the paint, and 32-7 on the fast break.  Buffalo State shot 55-percent from the field for the game, and hit 7 of 15 from 3-point range.

Buffalo State will host Oneonta for another league game tomorrow at 4 p.m.
