Johnson & Wales Outlasts Norwich, 70-65

Despite limiting Johnson & Wales standout Lamonte Thomas to 25 points, seven points below his season average, the Norwich University men's basketball team could not get past the Wildcats Jan. 26, falling 70-65 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

A stringent defensive team effort by Norwich limited Thomas to only 14 points from the floor. The senior guard, who ranks third in scoring for NCAA Division III, did most of his damage from the line where he went 11-for-12 to help JWU (7-11, 6-5 GNAC) seal the victory.

The Cadets (5-12, 4-7 GNAC) were led by senior forward Antonio Davis' (Albany, N.Y.) double-double as he notched a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Tom McDonald (Groton, Mass.) added 18 points of his own while freshman forward Evan Tullar (Chelsea, Vt.) chipped in 12.

The loss is Norwich's first at home since Dec. 10 versus Emmanuel.

NU returns to action Saturday, Jan. 28, when they host Emerson for an important conference contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
