Feinberg Records Fourth Double-Double in Saints' 73-65 Road Win at Grove City

(GROVE CITY, Pa.) - Junior small forward Phil Feinberg (Tempe, Ariz./Corona Del Sol) recorded his fourth double-double of the season as he scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds to lead the Thomas More College men's basketball team to a 73-65 win over Grove City College tonight (Wednesday, January 25, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Grove City College Arena in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 12-7 overall and 7-3 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 7-11 overall and 3-7 in the PAC.

Grove City jumped out to an early 4-0 lead when Brett Matson made a lay-up with 17:55 to play in the opening half.  Thomas More answered with an 11-2 run capped by a three-pointer by junior point guard Ryan Hamm (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) to take an 11-6 lead with 13:23 to play in the half.  The Wolverines responded with a 9-2 run to take a 15-13 lead with 10:10 to play in the first half when J.T. Schwartz made a lay-up.  The Saints used a 21-6 run to take a 34-21 lead when Feinberg made a lay-up with 54-seconds to play in the half.  Grove City cut the lead to 34-23 at halftime as Kris Verderber made a lay-up with four-seconds to play iin the half.

Grove City opened the second half on a 7-4 run to cut the lead to 38-30 with 17:44 to play in the game when Matson made one-of-two free-throws.  Thomas More answered with a 10-0 run capped by a three-pointer by sophomore point guard Spencer Berlekamp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) to extend the lead to 48-30 with 14:52 to play in the game.  The Wolverines put together a 12-4 run to cut the lead to 52-42 with 10:50 to play in the game when Verderber converted a three-point play.  The Saints responded with a 13-5 run to extend the lead to 65-47 when senior center Colt Stafford (Groveport, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) converted a three-point play with 6:00 to play in the game. Grove City answered with a 16-4 run to cut the lead to 69-63 with 1:24 to play in the game when Verderber made a jumper.  That would be as close as the Wolverines would come as Thomas More closed out the game on a 4-2 run for the 73-65 victory.

Joining Feinberg in double-figure scoring for the Saints was Hamm with a career-high-tying 12 points and Stafford with 11.  Sophomore shooting guard Cameron Clemons (Louisville, Ky./Doss) led the team in assists with three.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (January 28) when it travels to Washington, Pennsylvania to play PAC rival Washington & Jefferson College at 4 p.m. inside the Henry Memorial Center.
