Benedictine Men's Hoops Surges to First Place in NAC South

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team scored the first eight points and never trailed in taking down MSOE 60-38. The victory, the first away from the Rice Center this season, marked the season best fourth in a row for the Eagles, who have surged into first place in the South Division.

Mark Pace opened the scoring with a jumper on the second possession of the night, opening an 8-0 run. MSOE failed to score in the game's first 5:10 before a pair of free throws from Michael Ricciardi. Michael Woolf buried a three with 11:31 to play in the half, putting Benedictine up double figures at 14-4. The Eagles led by as many as 22 in the half and held a 35-14 advantage at the break after shooting 51.9 percent from the field.

The hosts could pull no closer than 16 points the rest of the way as Benedictine built as large as a 26 point lead in the second half. Jamison Montgomery led all scorers with 16 points in the game for Benedictine. Pace added 12. MSOE (8-10, 6-4) saw its leading scorer finish with eight points.

Benedictine (8-10, 7-4) swept the season series with MSOE. The Eagles will face Beloit College in a non-conference road game Saturday afternoon in Wisconsin.
