Titan Men Swamp Millikin 75-53 at Shirk

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team went on a 15-0 run late in the game to extend a 10-point lead and won by a 75-53 score over Millikin at the Shirk Center on Tuesday (Jan. 24).

The Titans improved to 15-3 overall and remained in first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 6-1 record while Millikin is 1-17 overall and 0-7 in the league.

Illinois Wesleyan led by a 37-26 score at intermission and led by 10 at 60-50 with 6:13 left before going on the 15-0 tear and gaining a 75-60 lead with 55 seconds left. Sophomore Victor Davis scored eight of the 15 points during the late run.

Senior Jordan Zimmer led IWU with 22 points while Davis finished with 19 points. Sophomore Andrew Ziemnik added 12 points and tied Davis for game-high rebounding honors with eight.

The Titans held a convincing 41-22 edge on the glass.

Illinois Wesleyan shot 51 percent from the field (25 of 49) and hit on 7 of 20 3-point fielders. The Titans made 18 of 28 free throws (64 percent).

Nikko Robertson led the Big Blue with 17 points and Jeremy Jones added 10. The Big Blue made 19 of 50 from the field (38 percent), 7 of 14 from 3-point range and 8 of their 12 free throws.

The Titans will play Wheaton at 8 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 28). The Thunder is 14-4 overall and 5-2 in the league after suffering a 70-46 loss at Augustana on Tuesday.
