More news about: Trinity (Texas)

Danville, Kentucky - Trinity's men's basketball team ended its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road trip with a 67-52 loss at Centre College on Saturday night.

Trinity (9-8, 4-4) has now lost three consecutive games - including both games during this weekend's trip.

Centre and Trinity struggled through the first half, with neither team shooting better than 32%, and both teams scoring just eight total field goals.  Centre held a 24-22 lead at intermission, but that came after the Tigers scored nine unanswered points in the final 2:31 of the period to cut an 11-point lead down to just two.

In the second half, Centre pulled ahead with a couple of quick baskets, but Trinity had the lead back to two points after five minutes of play (35-33).  The Colonels went on a 12-3 run to take an 11-point lead, and the Tigers never got any closer the rest of the way.

While Trinity's shooting percentage improved to just under 58% for the second half, Centre's also improved dramatically, as the home team converted 16-24 (66.7%) of its shots in the final period.

Robert Kitzinger and Zach Lambert came off the bench to score a combined 35 points to lead Trinity.  Kitzinger led the team with 18 points on 7-11 shooting, and Lambert hit 7-14 from the field for a total of 17 points.  Kitzinger also grabbed six boards.

Jonathan Wilt finished with six points and a team-best seven rebounds, while Ryan Beall led the Tigers with four assists.

Greg Ross led all scorers with a 20-point night for Centre, while Bryon Ellis (16) and Donovan Whiteside (10) also scored in double figures.  Ross added nine rebounds and three assists as well.

Trinity returns home for two SCAC games this weekend, facing off against Rhodes College on Friday night, and Millsaps College on Sunday afternoon.
