Ozarks Holds Off Choctaws, 77-71

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College men's basketball team dropped their fifth consecutive game with a 77-71 loss to Ozarks on Saturday afternoon at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

Sophomore Brandon Blake led the Choctaws (3-12, 2-10 ASC) with a career-high 23 points on 10-15 shooting.  Marcus Bobb paced the Eagles (5-12, 3-11 ASC) with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

In the first half, the Eagles scored the final seven points, including a three-pointer by Ronnie Dodd at the buzzer, to take a 38-30 halftime lead.

Ozarks grabbed a 10-point lead early in the second half before the Choctaws stormed back and tied the game at 56 with 9:15 remaining.  The game went back-and-forth over the next seven minutes with MC taking a 69-68 lead with 2:51 remaining.

The Eagles outscored the Choctaws, 9-2, over the final three minutes to clinch the victory.

Sophomore Caleb Vaughan came off the bench to scored a career-high 11 points, going 3-4 from the three-point line.  Junior Adam Smith led the Choctaws with nine rebounds.

Dodd was the top scorer for Ozarks with 23 points on 10-18 shooting.  Andrew Cummings and Joshua Clark were also in double-figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to LeTourneau.
