Feinberg scores career-high 25 in Thomas More win

(CRESVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Junior small forward Phil Feinberg (Tempe, Ariz./Corona Del Sol) scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Thomas More College men's basketball team to a 91-77 win over Geneva College today (Saturday, January 21, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Golden Tornadoes fall to 4-13 overall and 3-6 in the PAC.

Thomas More jumped out to a 34-21 lead with 7:32 to play in the first half when junior power forward Michael Rowan (Goshen, Ky./North Oldham) converted a three-point play.  Geneva answered with a 7-2 run to cut the lead to 36-28 with 2:22 to play in the half when Matt Lorello made a lay-up.  The Saints responded with a 4-0 run to increase the lead to 40-28 when freshman small forward Drew Mumford (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) made a lay-up with 45 seconds to play in half.  Geneva cut the lead to 40-30 at halftime when Matt Lorello made a jumper with 27-seconds to play in the half. 

Thomas More opened the second half on a 35-18 run to extend the lead to 75-48 with 9:07 to play in the game when Feinberg scored on a tip-in.  The Golden Tornadoes went on a 27-12 run capped by two Lorello free-throws to cut the lead to 87-75 with 1:28 to play in the game.  That would be as close as Geneva would come as Thomas More closed out the game on a 4-2 run for the 91-77 victory.

Senior center Colt Stafford (Groveport, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) and senior shooting guard Todd Krohman (Florence, Ky./Boone County) joined Feinberg in double-figures as they each had 18 points.  Feinberg led the team on the boards with a game-high eight rebounds, while sophomore point guard Spencer Berlekamp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) led the team in assists with five.

Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (January 25) when it travels to Grove City, Pennsylvania for a 8 p.m. game with Grove City College.
