GRANVILLE, Ohio – Led by Devone McLeod's 11, eight Allegheny players scored at least six points as the Gators knocked off Denison, 64-62, en route to their first conference win of the 2011-12 campaign. McLeod scored the eventual game-winner with a basket in the paint, while Clark Tritto authored the end-game heroics with a steal with four seconds left in regulation.

Allegheny received a tremendous team effort in Granville. Each player in second-year head coach Jim Driggs' eight-man rotation on Saturday played a sizable role in the Gators' thrilling road win. The Gators swiped a season-high 10 steals and enjoyed a 20-12 advantage on second-chance points.

The Gators led by as many as six in the first half, while a pair of free throws by Bobby Theiss gave Allegheny a 38-37 lead at the break. Although the Big Red scored the first points of the second period behind three straight baskets from Dimonde Hale, the visiting Gators stayed in contention by forcing a series of turnovers while converting efficiently in the post at the other end.

The score was tied eight times during the tilt, while the lead changed a whopping 20 times. Neither team was able to take control during a back-and-forth second half, although Allegheny received a much-needed boost from sophomore forward Clark Tritto, who scored all 10 of his points after the re-start on 5-of-8 shooting. In addition to leading the offensive charge in the last 20 minutes, Tritto also totaled a game and career-high four steals.

Rookie Gabe Seidman also finished in double figures for the Gators, knocking down 3-of-4 from the field for 10 points. D'Andre Corbin added eight points and a game-best five assists, Kyle Murphy added seven, while David DiBernardi, James Ness and Theiss each chipped in six. Theiss and Ness tied for the team lead with seven boards, while the eight made shots from beyond the arc marked a season-high for the Gators in conference play.

Hale scored a game-high 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead Denison, with Brett Tiberi (13) and Larry Farmer (10) were among the list of double-digit scorers. After sticking 5-of-13 from three-point range in the opening frame, the Big Red was 0-of-6 from deep down the stretch.
