FREDERICK (MD) – LaVar Rich scored 28 points and Hood College held visiting Delaware Valley College to 28.6 percent shooting from the field as the Blazers netted a 65-47, non-conference victory.

The Aggies (2-12) struggled against the Hood (10-5) defense all evening as they hit just 16 of 56 shots from the field, including a 6-for-24 effort from 3-point land. Delaware Valley managed just six baskets in 26 attempts (23.1%) in the first half as the Blazers held a 26-20 lead.

Hood scored the first five points of the second stanza to put the advantage at 11. It built the lead up to as many as 16, before a 13-2 Aggie run made it a 47-42 contest with 8:44 remaining. Nathan Bollinger hit a trio of 3-pointers in the spurt.

Delaware Valley hung around and was still down seven, 53-46, after Jeremy Beckett hit a jumper with 5:06 left on the clock. However, it was Hood the rest of the way as it outscored the Aggies, 12-1, for the 18-point victory. Rich netted six of his points in those final five minutes.

Rich hit nine of 12 shots from the field and was 10-for-15 from the foul line. He also added six rebounds and a steal in 34 minutes of action. Justin Stone had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Beckett and Bollinger combined for 36 points, but the rest of the Delaware Valley roster managed just 11 points. Beckett notched 17 points and 15 rebounds while Bollinger hit five treys and finished with 19 points.
