Warhawks Up Mark to 15-1 with Win over Superior

Whitewater came out of the locker room with a 10-4 run.  With the score 22-14 and 6:39 on the clock, Whitewater went on a 12-2 run for a 34-16 lead at 2:21, the largest margin of the half.  The teams went into intermission at 38-22.

Senior center Chris Davis and senior forward Alex Edmonds had nine and eight points, respectively, to lead UW-W in the first half.  Ben Aalfs, a senior guard, led the Yellowjackets with eight.  Whitewater shot 61% from the floor in the first twenty minutes, Superior 38%.  Whitewater also had an advantage at the line, going 7-8 while UW-S was 0-1.

In the second half Whitewater led 45-26 at 17:26, but Superior used a 7-0 run to pull within 45-33 at 14:47.  That proved to be the closest the Yellowjackets would get.  The biggest lead for UW-W came with 1:51 left, 79-53.

Whitewater continued to shoot well in the second half, ending the game at 63% from the field.  Superior improved in the second half, upping their percentage for the game to 43%.  UW-W also led in the turnover column, 12-17.  Davis added 15 points in the second half to lead all scorers with 24 points.  Junior forward Luke Knoble had 15 points, and Edmonds wound up with 12 on 5-5 shooting from the field.  Aalfs led UW-S with 15 points, shooting 6-11 including 2-3 from three point range. Junior forward Brendan Bauer added 11.   Whitewater's Eric Bryson shared game honors for assists with Superior's Dustin Ritchie, with four each.  Davis was the game high rebounder with eight and sophomore guard Cody Odegaard contributed a game high four steals.

UW-W will play at UW-Oshkosh Wednesday.  The next home game for the Warhawks is Wednesday, January 25 at 7:00 with UW-Stevens Point visiting Kachel Gym.
