Choctaws Fall to ETBU, 78-71

MARSHALL, TX - The Mississippi College men's basketball team dropped to 3-10 on the season with a 78-71 loss to East Texas Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Gymnasium.

After trailing at the half, 34-27, the Choctaws tied the game at 49-49 when senior Trevon Malone made a lay-up with 11:50 remaining.  The Tigers made 10-33 three-pointers in the game as they extended the lead to as many as 10 points in the final minute.

The Choctaws were led by Malone with 17 points and nine rebounds, while senior Greg Pulliam poured in 16 points on 5-10 shooting.  Senior Chad Jones scored 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds.  Sophomore Brandon Blake and junior Jesse Taylor also scored in double-figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Jeremy LaGarde led the Tigers with 24 points on 7-19 shooting, including going 4-12 from the three-point line.  Erby Thompson came off the bench to scored 12 points on 4-9 three-pointers.  Ahnre' Gray pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Choctaws will be back in action when they host Texas-Dallas on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the "Golden Dome."
