NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Andy Grzesiak-Grimm (SR, Wyoming, Minn./St. Francis HS) scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds -- 11 points and 10 rebounds in the second half -- to lead Augsburg College to a 57-55 victory over St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Wednesday evening at the Skoglund Center.

Tyler Schmidt (JR, Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson HS) scored 15 points, 12 coming in the second half -- including six of the Auggies' last seven points of the game -- for his fifth straight game scoring 15 or more points. Cory Polta (SR, Spring Lake Park, Minn.) scored 12 points with six rebounds for Augsburg (8-4 overall, 5-2 MIAC).

St. Olaf (6-7 overall, 5-3 MIAC) was led by Alfred Jaryan and Nathan Kuck, who scored 12 points each. Connor Gunderson scored nine points, and Bobby Fong had six points with seven rebounds.

Augsburg jumped out to a 20-11 lead with 10:40 left in the first half, but an 11-3 run gave the Oles a 24-23 lead with 7:43 left in the opening stanza. The Oles led 33-29 at halftime, but five straight points from Grzesiak-Grimm in a 1:43 span gave the Auggies a 38-37 advantage with 13:54 left, a lead stretched to four points when Schmidt connected on a three-pointer with 11:00 left.

There were six ties and nine lead changes in the game. The final lead change came with 5:13 remaining on a Schmidt three-pointer, which gave the Auggies the lead to stay at 46-45. Augsburg expanded the lead to five points twice in the final 3:09, but the Oles cut the lead to one point on a Jaryan three-pointer with 36 seconds left. A David Weber (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) free throw with 11 seconds left produced the final margin of victory for the Auggies.

Weber scored seven points with two assists for the Auggies in the game. Grzesiak-Grimm recorded his fourth point-rebound double-double of the season and 10th of his career.

Augsburg outrebounded St. Olaf by a 36-32 margin, converting 13 offensive rebounds into 11 second-chance points. Augsburg also claimed a 28-14 advantage in points in-the-paint in the game.

Both teams return to action on Saturday (1/14) at 3 p.m., with Augsburg playing at St. Mary's and St. Olaf playing at St. John's.
