GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg held Ursinus to three points over the final seven minutes and the Bullets pulled away late to beat the Bears 54-47 in a Centennial Conference men's basketball tilt Thursday evening in Bream Gymnasium.

Freshman guard Joe Emerusabe led the Bullets (7-7, 4-3 CC) with 13 points, including six in a crucial stretch late in the game, while freshman guard Sean Gordon and junior forward Alex Zurn added 10 points apiece. Junior center Benjamin Constable added nine points and six rebounds.

The win was career victory No. 319 at Gettysburg for Bullet head coach George Petrie, who is now two wins shy of tying the program record held by Hen Bream '24.

Junior forward Jon Ward recorded 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Ursinus (4-10, 3-4 CC) while sophomore guard Pat Vasturia contributed nine points.

The game featured seven ties and six lead changes.

The Bears took a 44-42 lead on a Ward jumper with 7:09 left before the Bullets made their late defensive stand. Gettysburg scored the next six points, and Ursinus would not score again for nearly six minutes.

Emerusabe tied it with a pair of free throws at the 6:15 mark before Constable gave his team the lead for good on a slashing lay-up with 4:26 to go. Emerusabe added a lay-in on an up-and-under move with 1:51 showing before Ward ended Ursinus' drought, hitting 1-of-2 foul shots with 1:21 left to make it a 48-45 game.

Emerusabe followed up with two free throws with 49 seconds to go before Gordon knocked down a pair at the line 14 seconds later to give the hosts a comfortable 52-45 advantage. Ward converted a bucket with 14 seconds left before Zurn set the final score with a pair of foul shots two seconds later.

Gettysburg led by as much as nine in the first half, but Ursinus closed the period on an 11-0 run, capped by a trio of 3-pointers, to take a 32-26 lead into the locker room.
