FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team used a 17-0 run to pull away from Johnson State College for a 77-56 victory in North Atlantic Conference action tonight at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers ran their record to 5-0 in the NAC and 5-4 overall with Lyndon State College up next on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Badgers (1-9, 1-3) are headed to Thomas College to face the Terriers at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine) led the Beavers with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) pitched in 17 points, including a 3-for-3 effort from 3-point range, and Nate Carson (Orrington, Maine) added 12 points. Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine) provided nine points and five assists in the win with Dan Kane (Bradford, Maine) also handing out five assists.

UMF shot 60.7 percent in the second half (17-28) and finished with 52.6 percent shooting (30-57). Johnson State made 39.7 percent of its shots (23-58).

The Beavers led by 13 points in the opening half, but the Badgers outscored UMF 18-5 over the final eight minutes of the frame to knot the contest. Johnson State led 39-37 with 16:47 remaining in the game, but UMF scored the game's nest 17 points to distance itself from the visitors.

Dickey netted nine points during the stretch, including the final seven points on the run, as the Beavers grasped control of the contest with a 54-39 lead with 10:08 left in the game.

Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Pa.) posted a game-high 20 points for Johnson State. Bousono hit seven of eight field-goal attempts to score 17 first-half points and spearhead the Badgers' rally. Scott Moran (Orange, Conn.) chipped in 10 points and five assists in the loss.

UMF built a 17-10 lead over the first 8:10 of the game. Following a Moran basket, the Beavers scored the next eight points to build a 25-12 cushion with 8:38 until intermission. The Badgers followed with the next seven points of the game before a Johnson two-handed slam quieted the visitors briefly. Johnson State followed with nine consecutive points with a Bousono three capping the 16-2 run and giving the Badgers a 28-27 edge with 2:30 left until the break before a 30-30 stalemate at intermission.
