Wade Guerin (Bloomington, MN, St. Croix Lutheran HS) had 17 points and Shane Manor (Altoona, WI, UW-Superior) and Ollie White (Minnetrista, MN, Mound-Westonka HS) both had 14 as the Falcons defeated the UW-Stout Blue Devils at the Karges Center on Wednesday night.
The Falcons jumped out to a 37-25 lead at halftime and never looked back.
The game began as a scoring struggle as the score was just 9-5 seven minutes into the game. Manor who started the game just 1-5 from the field found his rhythm as the first half progressed and Guerin was a force down low.
The Falcons finished the first half by outscoring the Blue Devils 7-2. The run gave them a 12-point lead going into halftime.
The second half was half was as competitive as the first half, but the Falcons played well and never lead by less than nine points.
With 10:20 to play in the second half Manor got a nice feed from Brian Kimble (Stevenson Ranch, CA, Coll. of Canyons JC) and laid down a beautiful dunk to put the Falcons up by 18. Two minutes later with 8:13 to play Guerin slammed a dunk of his own to give the Falcons a 19-point lead.
The Falcons played great second half basketball as they continued to perform well offensively on their way to a 72-52 victory.
Ollie White had a fantastic game off the bench as he added 14 points and three rebounds. Colin Utke (Mounds View, MN, Irondale HS) recorded 8 points including two long three-pointers.
The Falcons recorded 40 rebounds on the night including 30 defensive. Guerin grabbed eight rebounds and Kimble had 5 for UWRF.
Kimble also played 34 minutes and recorded 6 assists and 4 steals in the victory.
The Falcons improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the WIAC. UW-Stout falls to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the WIAC.
The Falcons will return to the Karges Center on Saturday, December 14th to play North Central University at 7 p.m.
