WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – In a rivalry that has seen 100 matchups, the Lycoming College men's basketball gave the century game a memorable ending, as they stormed back from a four-point deficit with 4:12 to play and came back to secure a heartstopping 67-66 win over rival Susquehanna at the Lamade Gymnasium on Tuesday night, Nov. 22.

The Warriors (4-0 overall) started the comeback for their 51st win in the 64-year old rivalry with a pair of free throws from sophomore Kevin Anthony (Columbus, Ohio/Bridgton Academy) with 3:46 left to make it 58-56. Off the inbounds, juniorJerald Williams (Riverdale, Md./Bladensburg) forced a turnover and drove in with a layup to tie the game.

After a block by Anthony, sophomore Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) drained a 3-pointer to give the Warriors the lead, 61-58, with 2:50 left to cap the furious rally. After a pair of free throws from Susquehanna, junior Anthony Martin(Detroit, Mich./Christ the King) hit a huge jumper and another steal by Williams led to a layup by Anthony.

The Crusaders (0-2 overall) cut the lead to a point with 34 seconds left after a pair of layups, but Williams calmly drained a pair of free throws to make it 67-64. A layup by Wally Rutecki with 20 seconds left made it a one-point game and a pair of missed Warrior free throws gave the Crusaders one last chance, but solid defense from the Warriors kept the Crusaders from a clean look and a wild 3-pointer fell off the rim as time expired.

Lycoming struggled from the field in the game, shooting just 39.4 percent (26-for-66) from the field while Susquehanna shot 50 percent (26-for-52), but the Warriors forced 21 turnovers, leading to 21 points.

"Susquehanna did a great job of keeping our players off-balance," Lycoming head coach Guy Rancourt said. "No matter who was playing, we just couldn't get into a comfort zone all night. They did a good job mixing up from man-to-man to zone. They did a great job slowing the pace down."

Anthony finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals and Martin posted 12 points and four assists. Williams notched eight points, six assists and six steals, as he moved within three swiped of the school's career record of 181 set by Geoff Boblick from 1994-98. Rudy added eight points and two steals and junior Ihsaan Davis (Jamaica, N.Y./Christ the King) added seven points and three assists. Senior Mike Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) added six points and nine rebounds.

Lycoming controlled the first part of the first half, taking a five-point lead after a layup by Bradley made it 15-10 with 9:01 left, but the Crusaders responded with a 22-10 run over the next eight minutes to take a 25-32 lead. The Warriors cut the lead to three with two free throws and a layup to make it 32-29 at halftime.

A 3-pointer from Spenser Spencer gave the Crusaders a six-point lead a minute into the second half, but the Warriors kept the Crusaders within five points for the rest of the half, tying the game twice, but not taking the lead before starting their final run after a pair of free throws from Jake Eskin made it 58-54.

Spencer finished with 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals and Harley Sellinger posted 14 points and nine rebounds. J.T. Wilson added 12 points and five rebounds and Rutecki added six points and seven rebounds.
