Ravens Light Up Downtown On Way to Defeating Rowan

More news about: Rosemont

GLASSBORO, N.J. - The Rosemont College men's basketball team succeeded in winning their first road game this season, defeating the host Rowan University Profs by a final score of 68-66. Rosemont's junior Justin Chaney (Williamstown/Williamstown, N.J.) attempted all of his shots outside of the arc, and was "lights out," converting 6-for-9 shots for 18 points to lead the Ravens.

The win puts the Raven's overall record at 4-3 (2-2 CSAC) while the Profs dropping to 3-4.

The two teams had difficulty creating separation. In the first half there were eight lead changes and each team's largest lead was only four points. The Ravens went into the locker leading 29-26.

The Ravens extended their lead to 10 points, 44-34 with 14:27 left but the Profs went on a 14-4 run over the next 4:27 to work their way back nito a 48-48 tie with 10:00 left. Each time the Ravens needed a basket, Chaney seemingly answered by burying a trey. The Ravens were helped out by three free throws by Mitch Carsillo after he was fouled on a three-point attempt with 6:45 left, and Rosemont held their tentative lead for the remainder of the game.

In addition to Chaney, junior Tremell Green (BOK/Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 14 and junior Mitch Carsillo (Collingswood/Collingswood, N.J.) had 10 points. Senior Harrison Carsillo (Collingswood/Collingswood, N.J.), junior DeAndre Jordan (Henry E. Lackey/Marbury, Md.) and junior Derrick Carter (Millville/Millville, N.J.) each grabbed seven boards to lead the Ravens.

Rowan's Rich McNamara led all scorers with 22 points. Kendall White added 14 and Dee Benson and Phil Jackson each chipped in 10 points for the Profs.

The Ravens return home on Wednesday, 12/7 for a CSAC contest against the Crimson Eagles of Philadelphia Biblical University. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
