Lemons Reaches Milestone as #11 Cavaliers Ground the Crimson Eagles

More news about: Cabrini

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The #11 Cabrini College men's basketball team remained undefeated with tonight's 82-66 win at Philadelphia Biblical University.  The win was Cabrini's ninth consecutive win over the Crimson Eagles.  The victory was highlighted by a career milestone by preseason All-American senior Cory Lemons.

Philadelphia Biblical secured its largest lead of the game just 31 seconds after the tip-off.  The Cavaliers controlled the scoreboard for the game's final 39:29.  By the middle of the first half, Cabrini had established an 11 point lead.

Fourteen points from reserve guard Jeremy Knowles led the Cavaliers to a 47-30 lead at the break.  The Cavaliers shot 50% from the floor before halftime and knocked down seven three pointers.

Cabrini converted eight Crimson Eagle turnovers into 12 points en route to the halftime advantage.

The Blue and White continued to push the pace early in the second half, as it extended the lead to 22 points after a three-pointer by sophomore Fran Rafferty.

The highlight of the game came late in the second half.  With 2:39 on the clock, Lemons did what he had done throughout his two plus years in a Cabrini uniform, drive through the lane for a lay-up, but this one was special.

The lay-up gave Lemons 13 points, making him the 16th member of Cabrini's men's basketball 1,000 point club.  Lemons accomplished the feat in just 61 games.

Lemons led the Cavaliers with 19 points.  Knowles finished with 17 points off the bench and Rafferty netted 12.  Senior John Boyd, who now stands just four points from recording his 1,000 collegiate point, led Cabrini with eight rebounds.

Adam Derus led Philadelphia Biblical University (2-4, 0-2 CSAC) with 14 points.

The Cavaliers (4-0, 2-0 CSAC) will return to Nerney Field House on Saturday when they, along with the Cabrini women, host the Keystone College Giants in a CSAC doubleheader.  The ladies will open play at 1:00 p.m., with the men to follow at approximately 3:00 p.m.
