DOYLESTOWN (PA) – King's College hit 16 of its first 21 shots from the field, en route to an 80-68, Freedom Conference victory at Delaware Valley College.

It was the conference opener for both teams as the Aggies (1-4 overall) began defense of their Freedom championship. They were short-handed on Wednesday evening as junior all-conference forward/center Jeremy Beckett was out with an injury. His inside presence was missed, especially on the defensive end where he is the school's all-time leader in blocked shots (130).

The Monarchs (2-3) came out on fire and used the hot shooting to take a 28-13 lead with 7:13 left in the opening half. They continued to build the advantage and upped it to 19 before a late run by Delaware Valley made it a 41-30 ballgame at the break. King's shot 76.2 percent from the field before missing its final five shots of the half and finishing at 61.5 percent.

The Monarchs went up by 17 on two occasions in the second half, the last coming at 61-44 with 10:26 on the clock. The Aggies responded with a 10-2 spurt, including four by Daulton Derr and three apiece by Nathan Bollinger and Cam Lee, to make it a nine-point contest just three minutes later.

King's answered with four straight, before Delaware Valley made one last run and cut its deficit to seven, 70-63, with 1:28 to go. However, the Monarchs got the job done at the foul line down the stretch, including a 6-for-7 effort by Kyle Stackhouse, for the win.

Stackhouse finished with 12 points and five assists and was one of five King's players to reach double figures in scoring. Kyle Hammonds had 15 points while Tim O'Shea added 14 points and seven rebounds. Allen Kuiper and Matt Fiorino notched 12 and 11 points respectively in the win.

Bollinger led Delaware Valley with 19 points and also added eight rebounds. Derr and Jay Donovan had 12 and 11 points respectively while Zach Sibel came off the bench and contributed 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
