Colby-Sawyer Men's Basketball Defeats Norwich, 82-63 in Home Opener

The Chargers improve to 2-3 overall, while Norwich drops to 1-3.

Senior Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine) led five Colby-Sawyer players in double figures with 15 points. Freshman Koang Thok (Portland, Maine) poured in 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Freshman Mike Dias (Carver, Mass.) scored 13 points, while sophomore Stephen Thorpe (Chicago, Ill.) had 10 on 5-7 shooting. Senior James Tobin (Brookline, N.H.) collected 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Norwich was led by an 18-point, eight rebound performance from junior Josh Cabrera (Providence, R.I.). Senior forward Antonio Davis (Albany, N.Y.) had 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the Cadets. Junior guard Ryan Williams (Dallas, Texas) was the third Norwich player to record double figures with 10 points.

The first half was back and forth for the first 14 minutes and had eight lead changes. With the game tied at 26-26 with less than seven minutes to play, the Chargers separated themselves with 12 straight unanswered points over a three minute span. The Cadets battled back towards the end of the half, but still trailed 42-35 at the break.

Colby-Sawyer increased its lead to 12 early in the second before Norwich went on a run to cut the deficit to three. The Chargers responded with a 10-0 run to re-build a comfortable lead once again. The Cadets would come within six points twice more in the middle of the half, but Colby-Sawyer answered each time to put the game away.

The Chargers scored 29 points off of 18 Norwich turnovers, while the Cadets held a 42-39 edge in rebounds.

Colby-Sawyer begins North Atlantic Conference play on Thursday with a home contest against Lyndon. Norwich hosts its annual Hockenbury Classic over the weekend with games against Worcester State on Saturday and either Williams or SUNY Purchase on Sunday.
