ASHLAND, VA – Behind 14 points and 14 rebounds from Andre Simon, the Randolph-Macon College Men's Basketball team earned a 55-40 victory over Trinity of Texas Sunday afternoon in Ashland.
Simon was 5-of-7 from the floor in the victory and was the lone R-MC player in double-figures. Calvin Croskey, Adam Desgain, and Jamie Robinson all had eight points in the victory as well. R-MC out rebounded TU 42-30 on the afternoon.
Trinity was paced by Zach Lambert's 11 points. Jonathan Wilt had 10 points for Trinity who shot 17-of-48 from the floor and turned the ball over 16 times in the loss.
R-MC went on a 12-1 run to open up a 21-9 advantage with five minutes to go in the first-half after a bucket by Simon.
Randolph-Macon took a 26-15 advantage into the intermission and pushed its lead to 31-19 early in the second stanza on three pointer by Desgain with 17:16 to play.
The Tigers rallied with an 11-0 run to cut their deficit to just one at 31-30 with just under 13 minutes to play in the game.
R-MC responded by scoring 10 of the next 13 points, extending its advantage to 41-33 on a layup by Lamar Giggetts with 10 minutes to go.
TU scored the next five points to comeback within five at 43-38 before R-MC sealed the game with a 12-2 run to close out the contest.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday evening when it travels to No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan for an 8:00 p.m. game.
